Terms of service
Last updated 18 Oct 2026 · PrintThese terms apply to every booking and request made on this site and in our offices from the date above. The cancellation and refund policy and the privacy policy form part of them.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Blue Jay Travels ("Blue Jay Travels", "we", "us"), with its partner Sharda Travel, sells air tickets, hotel stays and travel services online at b2c.crmshardagroup.com and from its offices. We are IATA-accredited travel agents: we act as the agent of the airlines, hotels, insurers and other suppliers whose services you book, and their own conditions (the airline's conditions of carriage and fare rules, the hotel's policies, the insurer's policy wording) apply to the service itself alongside these terms. By making a booking or sending a request you accept these terms on behalf of every traveller named in it.
2. Making a booking
- You can book with an account or as a guest; in both cases the booking is tied to the contact email and mobile number you give, which must be yours and reachable during the trip.
- Enter every traveller's name exactly as on the passport or identity document used for the trip. The airlines charge for corrections after ticketing and may refuse boarding when the name does not match.
- The seats or the room are held for 24 hours (48 hours when you choose a bank transfer) without any charge. The booking is confirmed, and the tickets or the voucher issued, when the payment is received within that time; a hold that is not paid is released and nothing is charged.
- A fare shown while a booking is on hold is not guaranteed until it is paid; airlines change fares and availability without notice, and a hold the airline itself cancels is released by us at once.
- The confirmation email, the e-ticket or voucher and the invoice are the record of your booking; keep the booking reference (BJ followed by seven digits) for every exchange with us.
3. Prices, fees and taxes
- Prices are shown in XOF. An air fare includes the airline taxes and surcharges known at the time of booking; room charges include the hotel's taxes unless the room description says otherwise.
- Our booking fee is shown separately before you pay: a fixed amount per passenger on flights and a percentage of the room charges on stays. It includes VAT at 18 %, which the invoice discloses; the fare and the room charges are collected on behalf of the carrier or the hotel and carry no VAT of ours.
- A promo code applies to the fare or the room charges before the fee, once per booking, under the conditions of the offer page. It is never paid out in cash.
- Not included: airport or tourist taxes collected locally, visa and consular fees, vaccinations, baggage beyond the allowance of the fare, seat selection and meals when the fare family does not include them, and the exchange-rate charges of your card issuer.
- An obvious pricing error (a fare that is a fraction of the normal price because of a system fault) does not bind us or the airline; we tell you as soon as we see it and refund in full if you do not wish to pay the correct price.
4. Payment
- You can pay by bank card (Visa, Mastercard), by Orange Money, Wave or MTN MoMo, or by bank transfer. Card and mobile-money payments go through our payment providers; the card number and security code are entered on their secure forms and never stored on this site.
- A card payment is charged at once and the documents are issued immediately. A mobile-money payment is confirmed when you approve the request on your phone. A bank transfer must quote the booking reference and reach us within the hold; the booking is confirmed when our finance team sees the funds, usually within one working day.
- A receipt is issued for every payment and an invoice for every confirmed booking, in English or French, from the booking page.
- We may ask for proof of identity or of the cardholder's consent before issuing a ticket when a payment looks unusual, and may cancel a booking paid with a card used without its holder's permission.
5. Travel documents and check-in
- The e-ticket or the hotel voucher is emailed as a PDF when the booking is confirmed and stays available on the booking page in both languages. Check it on receipt and tell us at once about any mistake.
- Carry the e-ticket and the identity document used for the booking. Check-in closes 60 minutes before an international departure and 45 minutes before a domestic one; airlines refuse late passengers without refund.
- Reconfirm the departure time the day before travelling: airlines change schedules, and the contact details on the booking are the ones they use to warn you.
6. Changes to a booking
- A date or routing change follows the fare rule of your fare family (free, a fixed fee, or not permitted), plus any difference in fare and taxes, plus our handling fee. Hotel changes depend on availability and the hotel's policy.
- Name corrections and spelling fixes are made by our desk at the airline's conditions; tickets are personal and cannot be transferred to another traveller.
- Ask for a change with Request a change on the booking page or by calling the 24×7 desk on +221 77 727 85 96. A change is confirmed only when we send you the new document.
7. Cancellations and refunds
Our cancellation and refund policy, which forms part of these terms, sets out what each fare and room type refunds, how to cancel, and when the refund reaches you. In short: a held booking cancels free of charge; a paid booking refunds the percentage its fare rule states, to the method you paid with, within 7 to 10 working days; a credit note records every refund; a no-show is not refunded.
8. Passports, visas and health
- Every traveller is responsible for holding the documents the destination and every transit country require: a passport generally valid at least six months after the return date, the visas or electronic travel authorisations, and the health certificates (the yellow-fever certificate is required for entry to or from many African countries).
- We give the information we have on request and our visa desk prepares applications, but the decision belongs to the authorities and we cannot guarantee its outcome or timing.
- A traveller refused boarding or entry for lack of the right documents has no claim against us; the fare rule decides what is refundable.
9. Baggage and conduct on board
The baggage allowance of your fare family is printed on the e-ticket; excess, special or sports baggage is paid to the airline at its rates. Airlines may refuse or offload a passenger whose conduct, condition or documents do not comply with their conditions of carriage; such a refusal gives no right to a refund from us.
10. Travel insurance
We strongly recommend travel insurance covering medical expenses abroad, repatriation, trip cancellation and baggage. The plans offered on this site are underwritten by our partner insurers; the premium is confirmed when the policy is issued and the policy wording alone defines the cover. We act as intermediary and are not the insurer.
11. Requests to the sales desk
A request sent from the holiday, villas and homestays, train, bus, cab, tours, visa, forex, insurance, business or group forms is a request for a quote, not a booking. Our desk answers within one working day; the service is booked only when you accept the quote and pay as it states. Forex rates shown on the site are indicative and the rate of the day applies when the currency is handed over.
12. Our liability
- We take care in making and managing your bookings and are liable for our own negligence in doing so. As agents, we are not liable for the performance of the service itself: a delayed, cancelled or overbooked flight, a schedule change, lost or damaged baggage, the condition of a hotel, or a supplier's insolvency, which are the supplier's responsibility under its own conditions and under the Montreal Convention for international carriage by air.
- We are not liable for events outside our reasonable control: strikes, weather, epidemics, acts of authorities, closure of airspace or borders, failures of telecommunications or of payment networks. In such cases we help you obtain what the supplier owes you.
- Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount of our booking fee on the booking concerned, except for death or personal injury caused by our negligence and where the law does not allow such a limit. Nothing in these terms removes rights that consumer-protection law grants you and that cannot be waived.
13. Complaints
Write to dakar@bluejay-travels.com with the booking reference, or call +221 77 727 85 96. We acknowledge a complaint within two working days and answer within fifteen days. If the answer does not satisfy you, you may refer the matter to the manager of the office that issued the booking and, failing agreement, to the mediation body or the courts named in section 16. For an airline service, you may also claim directly against the airline under its conditions and the applicable passenger-rights rules.
14. Personal data
How we collect, use and protect your personal data, and how to exercise your rights, is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
15. Use of the site and your account
- The site is for making genuine bookings and requests. Automated searching, scraping, speculative bookings, fraudulent payments or any attempt to interfere with the site are prohibited and may lead to cancellation of the bookings concerned and to legal action.
- Keep your password confidential; you are responsible for what is done with your account until you tell us it has been compromised. Change the password from your account page at any time.
- The content of the site (texts, layout, logos) belongs to Blue Jay Travels or its licensors; airline and hotel names and marks belong to their owners. We do our best to keep the information accurate but availability and fares are the suppliers' and change constantly.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of the country of the office that issued your booking, as shown on the invoice: the law of Côte d'Ivoire for bookings issued by our Abidjan office, of Senegal for Dakar, of Guinea for Conakry, of Gabon for Libreville and of India for Jaipur, with the OHADA Uniform Acts where they apply. Any dispute that is not settled amicably is brought before the competent courts of that office's city. A consumer who lives in the European Union keeps the protection of the mandatory rules of his or her country of residence.
17. Changes to these terms and contact
We may update these terms; the version in force on the day of your booking applies to it and the date at the top tells you when the text last changed. Blue Jay Travels · Boulevard de la République, Plateau, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire · +221 77 727 85 96 · dakar@bluejay-travels.com.
